- The Department’s website developed in a way to facilitate all stakeholders. And awarded with a Gold medal in Gov.lk web competition.
- Management System for Department of Fisheries (MSDFAR) is introduced and implemented successfully. Here over 50,000 Fishermen was registered using the online applications. about 37,000 Identity cards were issued, over 2000 Boat Registration and Boat Renewal carried out online per year now. About 8300 Operation License were provided online up to now, 4707 license were renewed, more than 2500 Catch Certificates fish export were issued annually.
- Online departure approval is initiated where fishermen themselves apply departures online via smartphones. Over 50,000 online boat departure approvals were given annually.
- Vessel Monitoring systems was introduced under the funds of Australian Government. Currently about 4100 multiday boats are provided with the VMS facility. All multiday fleet will be covered at the end of this year (2023).
- An online payment gateway with payment facility via credit card for all types of licenses was introduced.
- MSDFAR won the bronze medal in National IT awards 2022 (National Best Quality Systems Awards/ NBQSA)
